Alcohol Free Hand Sanitiser: Steril-eeze AD*

This week we’ve been trying out a brand new, alcohol free hand sanitiser called Steril-eeze. Because like most people we want an effective hand sanitiser that doesn’t irritate the skin!

Honestly, it could not have come at a better time. I mean Covid a side, with two kids under 5 and a key worker husband, this house is inflicted with varying forms of “plague” on a weekly basis. The constant hand washing and sanitiser spritzing has left us all with dry skin and broke from a hefty investment in moisturiser. Suffering from various skin complaints Booberritdad has particularly suffered with his hands.

I’m always looking for alcohol free and more gently formulated remedies to minimise what we’re putting onto our skin. Conventional hand sanitisers can cause irritation, and broken skin means individual are more susceptible to infection, which total negates their purpose!

The Science

Steril-eeze is a new concept in hand sanitising, harnessing the long-established science of Hypochlorous Acid (HOCI). Scientifically proven to kill 99.99% of harmful viruses and bacteria. Being alcohol free means it’s also PH neutral and kinder to the skin. Meaning that even with regular use it is less likely to irritate, sting or dry out sensitive skin.

Who Can Use It?

The entire family! Particularly suitable for key workers and those constantly having to us hand sanitiser because of their work. Steril-eeze can also be used on children’s hands and those with skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema.

How Effective Is Steril-eeze?

We’ve been using Steril-eeze for 4 days now and can definitely see a difference in how it feels on the skins. Being a spray I feel like I can apply quicker than trying to rub in a gel. It’s also been hugely convenient to also be able to double it up as a surface cleaner too!

For me the win is that it’s very quick drying and does feel sticky or moist after applying. But it doesn’t feel like it’s striping or harming your skin.

For booberritdad it also seems to have given his hands a rest and allowed his skin to restore itself a little aiding the use of his hand moisturiser.

*We were kindly gifted a 50ml bottle worth £2.29 which I keep in my bag. A 100ml bottle worth £3.99, perfectly sized for the bathroom! We also received a large 250ml bottle worth £7.49. The larger bottle has been great to have in the kitchen to quickly wipe down surfaces as we go.

How To Use It

Simply spray 5 or so times onto your hands. Make sure to cover all areas and allow to dry naturally.

How have you found using hand sanitiser this year? It’s kind of the new norm, isn’t it? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Stay safe,
