STEM Toys: Coding Critters #GIFTED

Coding Critters is the latest STEM toy, kindly gifted to us by the guys at Learning Resources. This 100% screen free toy comes with a story book and two playful Dino critters (Rumble and Bumble). An entry level coding toy for kids 4 and above. Use it to design endless coding challenges as well a creative play game to stimulate young minds and imaginations.

Theon and his dad are mad about anything STEM or STEAM; Science, Technology, Engineering (Art) and Maths. But especially STEM toys. So, being able to feed and take care of a robotic pet ticked all the boxes for them. Especially since there was no one set, generic standard for this toy. It’s endless coding options and challenges means that no two kids toys will move and behave in the same way.

For me the greatest aspect of this toy was it’s ability to capture Theons attention and keep him locked in for a decent length of time. It’s also not often that a heavily educational toy is also so much fun.

The boxed STEM toy we received is a 23 piece coding play set. From the Coding Critters range. Containing 1 large singing and dancing, robotic dinosaur and 1 smaller version, accessories to create a pet dino friendly environment and a story book which guides and teaches while telling a story.

There are three different coding pets to collect. Retailing at £40. Each pet-themed coding robot teaches early STEM concepts through basic coding games and activities
