Weekend Box Club: Easter

Well, how do I start? Not wanting to sound too overly dramatic, but The Weekend Box Club literally just saved this mum’s life! When they gifted us a months subscription for an honest review.

Easter and it’s run up are normally as epic for our family as Christmas. What with English and Greek Easter normally falling a week or so apart from each other and my birthday sneaking in midway between the two. Expectations and fun levels are always extremely high and this year was no different. Oh how we had so much planned, that was until life happened!

Plan A:

We were going to go away for the weekend, but then Yiannis had a bereavement, which meant him traveling back to Greece for the funeral and me being left to parent single handily…

Plan B:

Aunty Emily and cousin Emmett were going to come visit for the weekend.  We were going to go for afternoon tea and have donkey rides at Smithills farm, but then Emmett got the (Tonsil) ‘litis…

Plan C:

To pack up a picnic and go feed the ducks at the local country park, but then the sky turned grey and the heavens opened for 48 hours straight! We were going to do so many things, but in the end they all fell through and we were left, deflated, bored and stuck indoors. All I can say is thank god for the Weekend Box Club!

What is it?

A monthly subscription to high quality activities for you and your children to enjoy together. The Weekend Box Club allows you to spend quality time getting to know your children and watching them develop key life skills as you spend time together. It also transforms crappy weather days into fun packed, home based, indoor adventures. Transforming parents the nation wide from zero to hero!

What we received

The Rainforest activity box containing four projects, stickers, a how to booklet filled with fun facts and colouring in activities, a task chart and certificate of completion.

Our projects:

  • Up-cycle with Hattie – Grow Your Own Rainforest

A fantastically easy up cycling project.  The cress seeds which came in the Hattie the Hedgehog pack, sprouted up in less than 24 hours and meant that the fun we had planting them carried on past the weekend.

  • Bake with Wooster – Trail Mix Cookies

Theon particularly loved the cookie baking kit (what kid wouldn’t), but the key element here is how well thought out and considered this task is.  The cookies needed less than 10 minutes to bake and were a perfect interlude between planting our seeds and making our raindrops.  The guys at Weekend Box Club have really thought about what parents need in order to maintain a kid’s attention and keep them entertained.

  • Make with Sammy – Parrot Mask

Pretty much everything we needed to complete these projects were included in this chocolate box of fun filled tasks and activities.

  • Explore with Oswald – Raindrop, sun catchers

And there was no repetition with each task being completely varied in style, length of completion and level of difficulty, while still remaining within the theme and story of the box.

So, how did our week end? In a word: brilliantly! An absolute 10/10 for fun filled, educational entertainment.  We really couldn’t recommend it enough.

They’re really great for those days you’ve got brain fog and need to think of new ways to entertain the kids!

  2. I don’t think I’ve heard of these boxes before. This looks really great! The plants sprouting so quickly is brilliant, and the other three activities look very enjoyable too! Xx
