Chester Zoo Lanterns

24th November to 30th December

With the worlds population ever expanding and adding to the hectic work load of global kingpins like Father Christmas and all his little helpers, North Pole HQ has come up with the ingenious idea of turning all our favourite zoo hang outs into after dark sorting offices, to help in the run up to Delivery Day.

Transforming into an enchanting world of fairy tale illuminations and magical theatre shows, Chester Zoo invites everyone to join them in helping to light the way for Santa as him and his elves sort through all Naughty and Nice lists.

For £12 per adult and free for under 3’s your entrance fee will include all entertainment within the park, lanterns to guide your way, a sweet treat at the end and the chance to meet the big man himself, up close.

It is good to note that although held at the zoo these festivities are not an opportunity to visit the parks residents as all animals are put away to bed in preparation for the bright lights and loud noises however, this does not detract from the experience which in itself is an absolute sensory over load!

Guests are welcomed to bring their own snack but, festive feasting tents line the entry way with a plethora of yummy delights.  Meals can also be pre-booked online for around £8.  In addition to this the coffee shop hosts outside seating areas for picnics and a nice hot cuppa can be purchased for just £1; perfect for these frosty nights.

We highly recommend that as well as wrapping up warm you take an umbrella as the entire event is out in the open.

You’ll need a little over an hour to explore the park and all its displays.  The path ways are easily navigated with a different display or show every couple of feet to stop little ones from getting bored and making the whole experience fully interactive, with a circus of performers from ballerinas and roller skating flamingoes, to bungie-jumping monkeys and bubble blowing elves.

Once you’ve completed the walk make sure to have your letters and lists to Santa ready for posting.
